The Day Our Two-Year-Old Got Run Over… And Survived

Our second son, David, is 16 years old. It is a miracle that he even made it to the age of three!

When David was just two years old, he was knocked down and run over by a reversing car.

The impact was such that the back light of the car was smashed to pieces as it hit our little boy. We found the bits of plastic on the road. And we found David right under the car.

 

From the muddy car tyre marks on Dave’s clothes, we know that the car wheel went right over one of his legs and across his back to the opposite shoulder. That’s a large percentage of a two-year-old’s body for a car wheel to go over!

We lived in Bosnia at the time, and we rushed David first to a local clinic, then to a nearby hospital, and later by ambulance to another hospital, 30 minutes away, where they could do further testing. I remember sitting with him in the ambulance, feeling strangely calm, everything rather surreal.

Meanwhile, Christian friends alerted other Christians to pray. At that time there was a Christian conference taking place in Bosnia. Most of the country’s few Christians were attending. We heard afterwards that the whole conference stopped to pray for our David!

Amazingly, David was absolutely fine!!

He had some grazing and bruising on his face and one foot from hitting the gravel road, but no other external injuries, and no internal injuries! That is INCREDIBLE!

By that same evening, we were all home again, and David was able to run away from me at bedtime! Wow! I didn’t mind him not wanting to go to bed that evening!

Hallelujah! Our God delivers, and our God saves. He never slumbers nor sleeps.

It is a miracle!

We praise God for the life of our son David! And we thank all of you in Bosnia who prayed. We may not meet you on this earth, but we thank you for lifting up our son in faith.
